Description

Is the Earth out of rhythm?

Something is out of balance in the world’s soundscape. The forest no longer hums the way it once did. Rivers carry messages, but fewer beings are listening. Animals that once relied on sound to navigate, communicate, and survive are struggling as human noise and environmental change alter the world around them.

The Elders of the Listening World have chosen to reach out to children, believing they still remember how to hear what adults have forgotten. To restore balance, the group must relearn how sound is created, how it travels, and how it connects all living things. Through exploration, play, ritual, and scientific discovery, participants will recover the lost ways of listening and help awaken the living song of the Earth.
To increase our chances of success we will:

  •  Create instruments from nature
  •   Do experiments to understand sound movement
  •   Make up our own songs
  •   Find the ways that nature sings through wind, water, earth and fire
